May 15, 2006National Guard to Mexican Border? If true, count me w/ Chuck on this one. Posted by Gregory at May 15, 2006 02:58 AM | TrackBack (0)Comments
Excuse me. You do not live here. Perhaps you would change your mind if you lived on the border. You are not subjected to the destruction and constant fear of your life. Your property is not destroyed by the ILLEGALs. Your family is not in danger of bands of marauders. You are not taxed for their "rights" to free medical care. They are thieves. Plain and simple. The military is charged with the defense of the nation. It is right and fitting that they be deployed to face outward against our enemies. Mexico is no friend. I also think they military should be deployed along the Canadian border. Posted by: Dom at May 15, 2006 02:16 PM | Permalink to this commentI heartily encourage our Dear Leader in his quest to equal, even exceed, the forward-looking genius of Governor Pete Wilson. I urge all Republicans to follow him, as he tries something, anything,to revive his crumbling government. If it's necessary to alienate an entire generation of immigrants to cling even more tightly to that angry white male bloc, so be it! Given demographic trends, this is clearly going to be a big strategic win for the GOP in the long haul. Solid thinking there, boys. It's so good to have the grown-up Republican Party in charge. If Democrats were running things. we'd have nothing but feel-good stunts! Posted by: sglover at May 15, 2006 02:54 PM | Permalink to this commentI live there and I'm not afraid. Are you afraid of all of "them" or do you have some type of instinct or sixth sense that allows you to identify an illegal immigrant to a third generation spanish speaking mexican-american? The "band of marauders" sound like a big problem. Why don't you write about your local authority's ability to take care of these so-called threats. You pay taxes for them, too. And finally, as for medical expenses and the taxes that pay for them, how many white americans do you know who have diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis? Now ask yourself how many of them actually has enough insurance to pay for existing medical expenses and future problems. If they can't pay, will we help them out. Or, maybe we should ship them back to Mexico too. We've come so far as a country and yet we still use force to build fences around each other. How long will you continue to fear those who don't look or speak like you.
Dom, you say: "You are not subjected to the destruction and constant fear of your life. Your property is not destroyed by the ILLEGALs. Your family is not in danger of bands of marauders. You are not taxed for their "rights" to free medical care. They are thieves. Plain and simple." uh, destruction? what properties have been destroyed by ILLEGALS? bands of marauders? Are you saying that all 20 some odd million "ILLEGALS" destroy property, are thieves, prey upon families? perhaps if Mexicans were white you might feel differently about them.......perhaps..... With all that bricklaying and cement pouring and table busing, I know they're up to SOMETHING! Posted by: sglover at May 15, 2006 05:15 PM | Permalink to this commentRemember when all the right-wing nationalists (a a few liberal ones, as well) would call Latin America "our backyard"? How do you like your backyard now? (The irony, that Americans' spend a lot of money paying Latin Americans to manicure their lawns, is not lost?) Posted by: NeoDude at May 15, 2006 07:31 PM | Permalink to this commentIt's a photo op, Dom. Think that'll solve any problems at all? Posted by: CharleyCarp at May 15, 2006 10:05 PM | Permalink to this commentRE sglover & NeoDude, etec.: It is not just Mexicans that have been coming in large numbers, there have been plenty from Central America in the last 25 years as well. My office's excellant cleaning lady is from El Salvador. She has been here long enough to have her green card and visits back there when she can. She and many like her are here primarily due to Reagan's determination to crush Leftist rebels in Central America and yes, secure "our backyard" against anything that might encourage the local peasants to think there had anything like a chance to improve their lot in their own country. The destruction of Reagan's Wars compelled tens of thousands of Central Americans to flee to this country. As usual the Fruits of Mainfest Destiny have some nasty consequences! Actually, I believe the National Guard is better suited to guarding the border then fighting in Iraq. It is just that the US Army needs everybody they can get hold of, including the National Guard for the Iraq War. There is nobody for anything including guarding the US border. This another reason to declare victory in Iraq and get the Hell out! Posted by: David All at May 15, 2006 10:21 PM | Permalink to this comment |
