The National Security Teams

Laura, rest assured, I have major issues with a prospective Kerry cabinet. More on that very soon, I hope.

In the meantime, some thoughts from a Beltway spy on a prospective Bush II team.

"I just don't think Powell would stay, but man, would be good if he did. I'll wager beers that we see Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/Feith on the outs:

Rice - SecState

Hadley - SecDef (although I'd like to believe Lieberman or McCain would be tapped); and I could see Bolton moving from U/S for arms control at State over to deputy in DoD as nod to the neocons

Blackwill - NSA"

Look, I'm not sure I agree with all this.

But, all told, I'd bet a beer on Rummy's head too. Will Cheney protect him? Maybe...but it's ultimately Bush's call--and he might well decide to clean house at Defense.

Others Qs....Does Rice deserve State? And, should Kerry win, wouldn't Biden or Richardson at State be deeply mediocre? Comment away.

I hope to update this post later tonight with more reaction to Laura's (too) feisty cheerleading of Kerry's cabinet.
