June 23, 2004No ImmunityAnother unintended consequence of Abu Ghraib. They'll likely be many more. This wasn't about Kofi Annan's speech. It was about not having gotten on top of the Abu Ghraib scandal. If we had, we could have more effectively lobbied the UNSC and prevailed on this resolution, I suspect. Gregory: I find it remarkable how the UN, who certainly has its own scandals to content with, should be in position to hold court over any sovereign country. The UN charter is to serve countries, not the other way around. Posted by: Capt America at June 24, 2004 03:17 AM | Permalink to this commentGreg; This post is flt-out WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ICC is a TREATY and we are NOT SIGNATORIES!!!!!!! Besides that: we already have 90 countries that have signed waivers. So PLEASE: stop regurgitating the Leftist line on this matter - and on the Abu Ghraib perversions. It only makes you look bad. In fact, Greg: your misinformed opinion on this matter is WORSE than all your prior Your incessant URGE to deride the Bush Administration on the Abu Ghraib perversions has led you to hasty and incorrect assessments of other policies other news and of many simple stubborn facts. It is beneath the normally excellent level of discourse you usually maintain on this blog. Abi Ghraib was a limtied event, not the policy of CENTCOM, the Pentagon, ot the Administration. Move on.
