I got too distracted by the Powell/Condi show to update this post but thankfully, Yevgeny Vilensky picked up some of the slack and is on the case.

Because of American policies for the last few presidential terms, the world has come to believe that America is isolationist, self-absorbed, and weak, even though we have been telling them it is anything but. Now, finally, with complete justification, we have applied the two-by-four method (first, to get a mule's attention, you must hit him over the head with a two-by-four).

They are shocked. We are as we always were. But now we have their attention.
